New Orleans funk in its purest form and pure beauty. Founded in 1965, The Meters are considered pioneers of funk alongside artists such as James Brown. The self-titled debut album by the band from New Orleans is an important work on the scene and one that is bursting with energy. Organist Art Neville led the quartet, guitarist Leo Nocentelli played alongside him and bassist George Porter and drummer Joseph "Zigaboo" Modeliste formed the rhythm section.
